Advanced Symptoms of MesotheliomaAs mentioned, mesothelioma cases are almost always already severe and terminal the moment the disease is diagnosed in a patient. It would take an average of about 20 to a maximum of up to 50 years before actual symptoms of this form of cancer appears in a patient.
During those lengthy years, the cancer should have already grown malignant before detection and diagnosis. In the initial years after the inhalation and exposure to asbestos, there would be no indicative and noticeable signs and symptoms. But after decades, symptoms would abruptly surface and would already be classified and described as progressive.
The usual symptoms of mesothelioma are chest wall pain, shortness of breath, anemia and severe fatigue. If the disease is concentrated in the peritoneal or abdominal area, there would be severe and occasional pain in the abdomen, bowel movement problems and building up of unnecessary fluid in the abdominal area.
To be able to distinct the advanced state of the already malignant cancer phase of mesothelioma, the following symptoms must be evident: severe form of ascites, pleural effusion, a significant or drastic fall in blood sugar level, blood clotting in veins, presence of blood clots in lungs’ arteries and jaundice, a condition when the skin and the eyes become evidently, noticeably and extraordinarily yellowish.
There are cases when the advanced stage of mesothelioma occurs with several other severe medical conditions. However, it should be noted that mesothelioma does not in any way cause disruptions and malfunctions of other important bodily areas like the adrenal glands, the brain and the bone. If ever there are incidences of problems in those areas amid the onset of mesothelioma, be reminded that the cancer is not in any way contributory to such problems.
Because usually, mesothelioma is in the advanced phase during diagnosis, the condition is already severe and malignant. Thus, the patient’s life expectancy would be limited to just a few months or if fortunate enough a few more years. What is worse is that bodily conditions would become further deteriorated and worse as years go by.
